Bone Densitometry Exam Preparation

Please review our guidelines to prepare for a bone densitometry appointment at Ultrasound Associates:

• Do not take any medications for osteoporosis or osteopenia, (i.e., Fosomax, Actonel) for 24-48 hours prior to this exam. 
• Do not take calcium supplements 24-48 hours prior to this exam. 
• No nuclear medicine, barium studies, or contrast material from a CT scan or MRI within 7 days prior to this exam.
• Wear loose, comfortable clothing (i.e., sweat suits) without zippers, metal grommets or buttons if possible.
• For your convenience and to save time before your bone densitometry exam, you may download and print out the Bone Densitometry Patient Information Form along with the other appointment forms prior to your visit.
