Our film library is conveniently located at our imaging facility. Ultrasound Associates employs a full-time film librarian who promptly handles incoming patient film and record transfers. Having a film librarian on-site means outside mammography films and images are quickly digitized, permanently stored, and returned to each patient at the time of service.
Once digitized, both current and past images are immediately available for comparison by the radiologist. This eliminates any possible delay to the exam reporting process.
A very important part of any mammogram is the comparison of your current exam images with those of past years. Both current and past images should be available for close scrutiny and comparison by the radiologist. New mammography patients should arrange to have their old film/images/CDs sent to us at least two weeks prior to the exam date. For your convenience, an authorization form that may be used to request the records from your old facility is available for download by clicking here. (CDs of the images are always preferred, however, if x-ray film is involved, it is recommended that you pick up and physically bring your records to our office as films are usually not replaceable).
Requests for film/images/CDs or reports to be sent to another facility or physician are promptly handled by the film librarian. Film or image CDs sent directly to a physician or surgeon always receive priority status. Otherwise, please allow forty-eight (48) hours for the processing of your request. Records can be prepared for pick-up (by the patient or legal guardian) or mailed (to another facility or home address).
To protect your privacy, an authorization to release health information is required for the release of any patient information. The form below should be completed and faxed or mailed to Ultrasound Associates. The film librarian will contact you with any questions.
